After two days of excessive volatility for FIL, the Filecoin Liftoff Week conference aims to chart a way forward.
Two days after a shocking launch that sent Filecoin’s FIL token soaring 118% before dropping nearly 80%, the blockchain-based data storage platform is now turning to a week-long digital conference in the hope of getting back on track.
Entitled „Filecoin Liftoff Week“, the event focuses on education, infrastructure, interoperability and future plans for the project. Starting on 19 October 2020, the five-day programme features a different theme each day, such as „Building“ and „The Future“.

High-level speakers include ConsenSys founder Joe Lubin, who will participate in an informal talk on „The bridge between Filecoin and Ethereum“, and the founder of the Internet Archive, Brewster Khale, who will speak on „The importance of data retention“. Other speakers include Aave CEO Stani Kulechov, Codefi product manager Corbin Page and Polychain Capital founder Olaf Carlson-Wee.

The „Mine Day“ on 20 October will be a highlight for future miners. The programme will be dedicated to Filecoin’s talks, workshops and panel discussions on mining. The Filecoin mining system offers greater rewards to miners who provide storage space to the network; independent miner Benjamin Hoesjbo will also offer a tutorial.
Community members have also been invited to present their own „events and celebrations“ and add to the official programme. Attendees can view the full programme here.
The launch of Filecoin’s main network „is now underway“
The event comes at a time when the active FIL seeks to reach a minimum after reaching a high of $208 on October 15. Currently the trading is at $42.52.
Despite the drop, the Filecoin team remains optimistic about the project’s future prospects.
„This is only the beginning for the Filecoin network,“ says the blog post of the announcement.
